MoMA Exclusive: Founded in 1919 in Rochester, NY, Champion originally made hoodies to keep athletes warm during training in the 1930s. This Champion Starry Night Hoodie was created as an homage to Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night (1889), a work in MoMA’s collection. In his iconic oil painting, the Dutch Post-Impressionist artist created an emotional language to interpret night and nature, taking them beyond their actual appearances. Features of the sweatshirt include a drawstring hood, kangaroo pocket, as well as the MoMA and Champion logos on each sleeve. An original version of the brand’s hoodie from the 1980s is an object in the Museum’s collection. The Champion Starry Night Hoodie is available in sizes S–XL.
